World Book Day March 2018

09 Feb 2018

9th February 2018 Dear Parents This year we would like to celebrate World Book Day by hosting a week themed upon a book. Our Purple Parliament have been busy gathering ideas and the chosen theme will be ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Week commencing 26th February will feature activities, competitions and lessons based on this story, ending with a ‘Mad Hatters tea party’ on Friday 2nd March. Instead of dressing up, the children are invited to wear a hat of their choice on the Friday. Their hat can either be a hat that your child would like to decorate themselves, or a hat that they particularly like from home - the madder the better! Each class will then vote for the ‘maddest’ hat. Our week will also coincide with our connection with Sierra Leone. We will be choosing our favourite books to send to the schools out there and presenting them to Alan in our assembly. Also, we will be holding a cake sale and a second hand book sale, after school, on Friday 2nd March, to raise funds for Sierra Leone and to enable the school to purchase new reading books. This will be a non-school uniform day, along with their ‘mad hats’, for donations for our cake and book sale. This will be fantastic opportunity for the children to take part in a fun and engaging week, developing their passion for reading and writing throughout the whole school and we look forward to seeing their hats on the Friday 2nd March. Kind Regards Miss S Rainbow Head of School
